“New dust collection remote control system upgrade”
When I saw the Ivac product LV started to offer I was intrigued but realized it could not handle my 5 hp Pentz cyclone. I googled the company only to find out they are local and have a full system of dust collection modules and products.
I purchased a contactor, a remote control and an switch. The contactor can handle the large amps and turn on the DC. The switch turns on the contactor and the remote turns on the switch. It works great. In my small shop previously, I had a magnetic switch centrally located and it was easy to hit the buttom, in my new almost 800 sq ft, that’s not practical. Now with the remote control clipped to my apron or belt, I’m good to go anywhere.
The owner was very helpful and hand delivered my products to my door. The remote just got approval so I had to wait a few weeks to put it all together but he kept me informed of the availability and delivered right away. The remote is nice and palm sized, yellow and won’t get lost in the shop btw, a good feature.
The system has a delayed 1.5 sec start so your tool and DC won’t trip anything at the same time, and an adjustable stop so it clears the DC pipe before shutting down. I have mine set for 6 seconds.
I may add a tool module or two down the road but for now it’s great until I get settled.
